Have you received a violation for lead based paint?  In NYC, dwellings built before 1960 are considered probable for lead based paint.  In NYC, if tenants have a child under the age of 6 and they suspect lead paint, they may file a complaint with the city.

NYC landlords may receive violations for lead based paint from one of two city agencies.  The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) both issue these violations.  DOH violations need to be addressed within 5 days and HPD violations require the problem be addressed within 30 days.  In either case, timely attention is critical and Testor can help.
